Since the program’s inception on April 1, 2007, the program supported 1,120 projects to deploy solar thermal technologies in buildings.
In addition, 14 pilot projects were established with partners (utilities, developers and buyers’ groups) to test large-scale deployment mechanisms for solar water heating systems in the residential sector. Under these pilot projects, 1,100 solar water-heating systems were installed in Canadian homes.
the capacity of the industry to deliver quality systems to the Canadian market through the development and updating of industry standards and certification processes for both solar thermal and geothermal technologies;
the certification of packaged solar domestic water heating systems;
the promotion of the inclusion of new technologies in building codes and provincial, and municipal regulations;
annual solar thermal industry surveys and geo-exchange industry statistics;
the updates of solar design software; and the skills training of solar thermal, photovoltaic and geo-exchange designers, technicians and installers, and labor market information.
When the ecoENERGY Renewable Heat offered a Commercial Deployment Incentive, a list of solar collectors accepted by the program was published on this website. Other organizations now offer similar lists to identify collectors that have been tested to CSA Standard F378 or equivalent. To our knowledge, the following organizations offer various services for the verification and/or the certification of solar collectors to CSA Standard F378:
