When we encourage Canadians to invest in renovating their homes to make them more energy efficient, we're helping them save money on their bills, we're stimulating local economic activity and we're protecting our environment.

And that's why I'm very pleased to announce today that we are expanding our ecoENERGY Retrofit Homes Program so that more home owners will be eligible for even larger grants to help make their homes more energy efficient. As part of our Economic Action Plan for Canada, we're investing an additional $300 million in the ecoENERGY Home Retrofit Program. We're increasing the grants available to home owners by 25%. So for example, instead of receiving $500 for a furnace upgrade, you're eligible for $625 instead. A Canadian should act quickly and apply soon because the 25% in grants will only be in effect for a maximum of two years. That's until March 31st, 2011, or until the $300 million has all been given out.
